PROSPECTUS
Summer Solstice is our juried photography show. Winners and accepted works will be featured in our virtual gallery. It is each artist’s responsibility to read the rules for entry in full on all the gallery's calls before entering and may contact OCAD with any questions.

Application Requirements
There is no fee to enter. You may submit up to three (3) photos. Each work will be judged impartially by our jury. Please complete the form here and once submitted, you will be taken to a webpage to upload your images. Please make sure your images filenames are appropriately identified by: YOUR NAME, TITLE, SIZE (WIDTH X HEIGHT IN INCHES) AND PRICE. SEE EXAMPLE BELOW
IMAGE PREPARATION
All images must be in JPG format and a minimum of 1500 pixels wide or high, max 4000 pixels and up to 5MB in file size; filename format: LastnameFirstname_ArtTitle (Example: SmithJohn_TheWater)
Your Name,Title, Size (width x height, in inches) and Price.
SHOW RULES:
All entries must be the work of the artist and for sale. No signatures, borders, digital frames or mats, artist logos, borders, or watermarks may appear on the work. Any work with these elements will be automatically rejected. Copies or works based on another artist's work will not be accepted. NO A.I. GENERATED WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED, WHETHER IN PART OR AS A WHOLE WORK. Minor editing such as filters, cropping, saturation, dodging, burning, color corrections, levels, etc., are permitted. Excessive filters are accepted but not encouraged if they detract from the overall aesthetic of the photo. If there is a sale inquiry, the photographer will be notified before a sale is confirmed. OCAD takes a 40% commission on all sales, 60% goes to the photographer. No sale will happen without prior consent and agreement of the photographer. All rights remain to the photographer.
Eligibility Criteria
This show is open to artists worldwide and all skill levels.
SELECTION PROCESS
Accepted entries will be selected by the Gallery’s juror to protect the integrity of the selection process. All decisions are final. "Selected" is defined as being chosen by the juror(s) for presentation in the online gallery.
Curator/Juror
O. Abiola Akintola
A longtime resident of Prince George's County, MD, Olufikayo Abiola Akintola has provided consulting and support - writing, research and creative - for various projects for over 20 years. He holds a Masters in International Education from George Washington University and a BA in History from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). During his graduate studies, Abiola completed a fellowship with UNESCO, during which he worked with the chair of the program on several research papers and a set of teacher guidelines. In addition, he received GW's Nakyuin Shin International Education Award.
In the creative sector, Abiola has contributed to a number of high-profile efforts. In 2001, he produced "Downtown 81- Uptown 01," a weekend-long multi-media tribute to Jean-Michael Basquiat that was reviewed in NKA Journal. In 2009, he served as an Assistant Curator for “M3- MCs, Mics and Metaphors” a multimedia art exhibit shown at Flashpoint Galley in Washington, DC. In addition, Abiola consulted for Desho Productions, a DC-based event production company. There, he assisted in managing various events, including a 3-month live performance series (“Live! At Woodrow Wilson Boulevard,” Summer 2005). At Top of the Food Chain Productions, he served as a Production Assistant for “Black, White and Blue,” an independently produced political documentary released in early 2018.
